Today after Sheikh Juhany said takbeer al-ihram for Salat al-Asr, a man snatched the microphone and claimed to be The Mahdi in Arabic before security arrested him.

MAKKAH: Muslim faithful who had come to perform Asr prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah were shocked when a man snatched the microphone and declared he was the Mahdi, the prophesied redeemer of Islam who is expected to come prior to the Day of Resurrection.
According to eyewitnesses, the imam has just started the prayer when the man grabbed the microphone and made his announcement. Security officers inside the mosque quickly arrested the man, who was said to be an Egyptian national in his 30s.
Security officers took the man to the police station at the mosque’s premises for investigation.
Police deduced that the man was suffering from mental problems.

Sister Khadija, Imaaam Mahdi and Sayyidina 'Isa (Alayhi Salaam) are two different people. Imaam Mahdi's name is Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah and is from the progeny of Sayyidina Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam), while 'Isa (Alayhi Salaam) was a prophet, raised up and will descend during the rule of Imaam Mahdi.

By being in front of the Kaabah who would be scared People of the past were in salaat and shot with a bow and arrow but cotinued salaat. Why Would one be scared.
Narrated Umm Salamah (Radiallahu Anha), Ummul Mu'minin: Sayyidina Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: Disagreement will occur at the death of a ruler and a man of the people of Medina will come flying forth to Mecca. Some of the people of Mecca will come to him, bring him out against his will and swear allegiance to him between the Corner and the Maqam....... [Sunan Abu Dawud]
And so when he has gained the allegience of the people it will be in the Mataf between the Rukn al Yamani and Maqami Ibraheem.
To those who are unsure whether this was true. My family and I were there and subhnallah it was frightening as the sound echoed around the mosque. However the Sheikh carried on with as if nothing had happened. Mashallah May the Sheikh be rewarded for his quick thinking.
on that day I am on Umrah, in morning time go to ja'ranah for miqad, finish umrah after zuhur, back to hotel and made asar prayer not in Haram,.. :( I pray near my hotel, so tired.. at april 2011, too many people in Makkah, my friend said he is 21 years in makkah, never see people like this since 21 years except hajj.

Security personel are there and our sheikh is alright.
He did have a mental disorder. He was a 35 year old pilgrim from Egypt. may Allah cure him.
very shocking, inshaAllah the jamat and imam were not too disturbed by this.
