Shaykh Mawlana Hakim Muhammad Akhtar of Karachi (Pakistan) has passed away at the age of 85, yesterday. Inna lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji'un. The respected Shaykh was well known – especially amongst the Subcontinent Muslims – for his spirituality, piety and deep love for Allah and His Messenger (Allah bless him & give him peace). He was referred to as ‘arif billah (a Gnostic)’ due to his intense love for Allah, and igniting this love amongst his students. Scores of people – including many scholars – from many countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, UK, South Africa and North America benefited from his speeches and writings in the science of spirituality (tazkiya/tasawwuf/ihsan).
May Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, and grant him a high abode in paradise, Ameen.
