As salamu Alaikm wa Rahmatullah Isha salah saleh al taleb said....surah Isra Ayaah [79] And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.////////////// رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لَهُ " أَحَبُّ الصَّلاَةِ إِلَى اللَّهِ صَلاَةُ دَاوُدَ ـ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ ـ وَأَحَبُّ الصِّيَامِ إِلَى اللَّهِ صِيَامُ دَاوُدَ، وَكَانَ يَنَامُ نِصْفَ اللَّيْلِ وَيَقُومُ ثُلُثَهُ وَيَنَامُ سُدُسَهُ، وَيَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا ".
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told me, "The most beloved prayer to Allah is that of David and the most beloved fasts to Allah are those of David. He used to sleep for half of the night and then pray for one third of the night and again sleep for its sixth part and used to fast on alternate days."
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا کہ سب نمازوں میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نزدیک پسندیدہ نماز داؤد علیہ السلام کی نماز ہے اور روزوں میں بھی داؤد علیہ السلام ہی کا روزہ ۔ آپ آدھی رات تک سوتے ، اس کے بعد تہائی رات نماز پڑھنے میں گزارتے ۔ پھر رات کے چھٹے حصے میں بھی سو جاتے ۔ اسی طرح آپ ایک دن روزہ رکھتے اور ایک دن افطار کرتے تھے ۔ Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 1131 In-book reference : Book 19, Hadith 11 USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 2, Book 21, Hadith 231
