Masha Allah! Happy to hear Sheikh Shuraim even today. Now it's been five days that Sheikh Shuraim leads Fajr. Alhamdullillah.

I think sheikh never realised his mistake because it didnt make a big difference in the meaning. Awliya means Friends. Abna means Son's. So the ayats translation goes like this: "The Jews & Cristians said: We are the sons(friends) of ALLAH and His wanted ones". So if you see there, it is not easy to realise the mistake bcoz there was not a big contrast in the meaning.
May ALLAH forgive my mistakes in my message. Ameen.

It seems people forget that the imams are human, and humans make mistakes.

The sheikh made a mistake it is the words of Allah not just any words we can't even change a alif to a ayn or ayn to alif it is our responsibility as muslims to preserve our deen, the jamaat should have corrected him he's a human like us all we all make mistakes.
