They worked for him what he desired, [making] high constructions, images, basins as large as reservoirs, and [cooking] cauldrons fixed [in their places]; [I said], "Work, O family of Daud [David], in gratitude;" and few of My servants are grateful. Surat As-Saba: 13.
Culture of science and art arrived at a high excellence in the age of Hajrat Sulaiman [Asm.], As-Saba: 12, 13. Then the Painting [Tamathil] was practiced about non living thing, it means not of animal. Drawing of animal/fauna is prohibited not only in Islam but also in Tawrat. Allah’s prophet Sulaiman [Asm.] was follower of the Tawrat as well. So we are sure about the Shari’ah of art in his age.
Now Islamic scholars say that, photos are allowed for documentary issues such as courts necessity, passport, evident political news etc.
