When the crowd is less, the imaams stand behind the Maqami Ibraheem (Alayhi Salam), and once the crowd increases for Hajj, they will be back to leading close to the Kabah. :)
it is not allowed in any masjid except haram...in haram a musali can pray closer to ka'aba than imam from another side...not 4rm imaam's side... and that is not possible but only in haram...:) i hope u got it.. wAllahu a'alam
