Masha Allah! In summary, advice to the ummah to exert themselves in good deeds in the last ten days. Advice and encouragement to the sisters to be more particular with regards to modesty in the haram in their dressing, behaviour and to avoid mixing with males in the crowds. Advice also to those making itikaaf ' not to make the haram a hotel!'.

what happened to men dressing modestly. there are men who wear thoubes that are very thin and they don't wear anything underneath. you get to see a whole lot. why is this never an issue?

Straight to the point.

Is that present in the Haramain, men dressing like that? Perhaps it is that the Imaams have not seen such dressing, or else he would have addressed it. They would never brush such a matter aside.

I have never seen a man wearing nothing underneath and it being visible. I have been to the haramain many many times and grew up there and never saw that. At the same time, there are men who wear tight clothing and that should be addressed as well. The main point of Sheikh Sudais though was to address the fact that there is too much mixing of the women and men and aggressive behavior of some women in getting into contact with males especially during tawaf when its very crowded. InshaAllah im sure he did not mean any sexism by his comment. Allah knows best

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, head of the Presidency for Two Holy Mosques, has called on all pilgrims and worshippers to uphold the sanctity of the two holy mosques. He reminded women worshippers at the mosque that it is better for them to stay in their homes.
“We all must respect the sanctity of the two holy mosques, and respect each other and cooperate with one another,” Al-Sudais said while giving a lecture at the mosque on Wednesday. He said all believers must keep away from activities that violate the sanctity of the two holy mosques such as taking photos and chatting on mobile phones and women mingling with men.
“Some women come to the Haram neglecting the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him), applying perfumes, showing their beauty and without wearing Islamic dress,” said Al-Sudais, who is also an imam of the Grand Mosque.
He quoted a Hadith of the Prophet saying, “You should not prevent women from entering the houses of God (mosques), but homes are better for them,” indicating the imam preferred women to stay at home without jostling with men at the Haram during this peak season.
Sheikh Al-Sudais does not favor people doing itikaf (retreat in a mosque for worship and meditation), sleeping in the mosques ground floor, although his predecessor had allowed it. “We have to respect the Grand Mosque. We should know that Haram is not a hotel,” said Al-Sudais, who has been imam of the Grand Mosque for three decades.

Sheikh sudais is correct there has to be respect in the grand mosque and people need to be educated on islamic sunnah of our nabi saw when in a mass gathering of sexes islam teaches us to respect each other and to pray in a manner that does not inconvienince others my hero sheikh sudais

I admit that during ramadhan i occasionally slept in the mosque as we get too tired in between prayers to walk back to our hotel. I too notice that some women are not properly covered, or wear clothing that are a bit tight, and makeup. I also notice that some men wear rather thin pants and you can see the outline of their underwear when they bend or prostrate. I had also been touched inappropriately in the haram. Glad to hear of sheikh sudais' reminder.

Sheikh Sudais' announcement should also be made in other languages used in the Haram eg English, Urdu, Turkish and Malaysian. I can bet you the ignorant people will not understand a word of Arabic. Please, please someone convey my suggestion to the Haram administration. Also it would be nice to have an English translation of every Jumuah khutbah posted somewhere on the internet. I love the two Harams too much. May Allah forgive our sins.
