There are ulama who believe from the actions of Sayyidina Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam), what *if* avoided it would be ok.. Because the turban was something that was worn during that time period, and styles evolve over time, it is considered not blameworthy on the imaams to wear the ghutra today. Allah knows best and what I said that may be incorrect is from myself and Shaytan...
There is a difference regarding the tubun of Nabi sallahu alayhi wa salam ----------------------------------- Amr bin Hurayth (Radhiallaahu Án) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) gave the khutbah and he was wearing a black turban on his head. Abu Dawood and Tirmidhi ----------------------------------- "The tying of the Turban is a "Sunnate Mustamirrah" ----------------------------------- Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume #1 pg#536
Ibn Abbas (Radhiallaahu Án) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) addresses the Shaba while wearing a black turban.
