I advice brothers not to jump to conclusions about Shaykh Hudhaifi, wait for Ramdhan to see if he comes back for Taraweeh or until there is official news from the Government of KSA. If Shaykh Hudhaifi retired, the Ministry of Haramain affairs would have appointed another Imam as currently there are only 3. We should make Dua to Allah that Shaykh Hudaifi returns and that Allah reward him for his Khidmah of the Deen and the time he dedicated to his beloved prophet's Masjid. And Allah knows best.
We have heard reports as well from people in Madeenah who state that Sheikh Hudhaify has retired. It is not necessarily true that they would simply appoint another imaam because of the Sheikh Hudhaify's departure. Sheikh Thubayty rarely leads anymore, yet they did not replace him. Allah alone knows best.
Sheikh Huzaifi is still teaching in the Islamic university of Madinah and I think The work of leading prayers is more easy than teaching, therefore he should first stop teaching and then ...
A person of his status shouldn't stop teaching.. If his desire is to continue giving knowledge to the next generation, we should be happy with that. Furthermore, he retirement followed having being suspended for his last khutbah.

Jazakallah khair for the information. Don't be disturbed by the doubt expressed, a lot of time people just say things without any real information, and after a while it's hard for some to know what and what not to believe.
@Anonymous "From Madinah": I did not intend to say you are lying or are bluffing, I just wanted to know whether what you are saying is Authentic, because trust me, a lot of people just say stuff and they are just bluffing. It is hard on me knowing that Shaykh Hudhaifi will no longer lead in our beloved Prophet's (SAW) Masjid. I am a student of knowledge and two of my teachers spent prolonged periods of time with Shaykh Hudhaifi and since I was a kid told me inspiring stories about him. Allah (SWT) has given me the honor of personally seeing Shaykh Hudhaifi. I always loved the esteemed Shaykh's Qiraah and Khutbahs. I will surely miss him :( May Allah give him the best in this world and in the hereafter. Ameen.

Can someone tell me what are the responsibilities/duties/task of Chief of Imams and the Deputy Cheif of imams?
