The sun eclipsed in the lifetime of Allah's Apostle (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam on the day when (his son) Ibrahim (Radiallahu Anhu) died. So the people said that the sun had eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim. Allah's Apostle (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or life (i.e. birth) of someone. When you see the eclipse pray and invoke Allah." [Saheeh al Bukhari]

Many of the imams and muazzinzs attended the prayers(SALATUL KUSUF) in haram today, i met sheikh MAJID IBRAHIM ABBAS after salah in mataf as he was standing next to me.

Salaatul Khusoof is the special prayer performed during a lunar eclipse. This eclipse took place last night 31 Dec 2009 at about 10:00 pm Saudi time. Jazakallah Khair haramain recordings for this!

why doesn't anyone praise shuyookh of madina? Are they not equally talented? Though if you compare in ramadan- they pray much longer tahajjud than makkah and since there is seperation of men and women, safeguarding of eyes provides a real strong spiritual environment,

JazakAllah for sharing all this. I am glad to see almost 19 comments regarding Sheikh Maahir but is it not strange that not even a sjngle comment is there in Salaat ul Khusuf led by Sheikh Hudaify in Madinah Muawarrah? Mashallah he recited Surah As Saffat (complete 182 ayats) and Surah Saad (compelte 88 ayats) and very beautifully but no one acknowledges.
brother its because this is the first khutba sheikh mahir gave in masjid al haram..and my opinon is that makkah imams are preferred as a pose to madinah imams..everybodys excited about sheikh mahirs first khutba...surely this is something exciting to the true fans..
