According to the Minister of Makkah:
Sheikh Abdurrahman Sudais is the Chief of imams at Masjid Al Haram.
Sheikh Saoud Shuraim is the Deputy Chief Of Imams Makkah.
The imams have a set Rota to decide who leads which prayer in Makkah.
Fajr duty is given to Sheikh Salih bin Abdullah al Humaid. However, since his appointment as chairman/speaker of the Saudi Parliament, Majlis Shura, he spends most of his time in the capital, Riyadh. In his absence Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim leads. Sheikh Shuraim If on business, then Sheikh Johany must lead the prayer.
Zuhar is led by Sheikh Khayat.
Asr is led by Sheikh Al-Talib.
Magrib duty is given to Sheikh Sudais, with Sheikh Faisal Gazzawi, Maahir as back-up.
Isha is primarily led by Sheikh Al-Talib, with Sheikh Khalid Al Ghamdi leading in his absence.
Scheikh Johany, Maahir, Ghamdi, Ghazzawi only make representations.

I want to make a corection that Sheikh Saleh ibn Humaid is no more in saudi parliment(Majlis Shura), he is now Cheif in Makkah Court.

I am big fan of sheikh maahir and i was quite dissappointed with the rota that sheikh Maahir is just a back up. All imam's should get equal opportunities. Coz i personaly think that shikh maahir recites quran the way it should from deep down your heart. Nothing against other imam's but i would rather like to see sheikh abdul wali arkani in place of ghazzawi and ghamdi.
These are just my honest and personal opinion's. I am not trying to hurt anybody's feeling's or rights.

Thats very interesting, all the imams read beautiful and they should all get an opportunity, i do not look forward to a time without any of them. Especially Sheikh Shuraim :P
a correction Sheikh Salih bin humaid is chief justice of saudi supreme judicial council the same post which his father sheikh abdullah held some 30 years back.
i just came back from umrah today i shook and said salam to sheikh sudais, Sheikh Ghamdi, Sheikh Budair, and the muadhin of MAsjid Al Nabawi. It was tough but definitly worth it
i also saw what car sheikh juhany drives and they all park there cars in the kings palace right by the masjid ill find a pic soon insha'Allah
well obviously the rota must have changed now, with SHeikh Sudais permanently leading Fajr, and sheikh maahir leading maghrib and isha...
Alhamdulillah, in Riyadh, I had personally, a chance to study Quran from the teacher of the teacher of Sheikh Sudais. The teacher himself now in late 70's almost. He would recommend me Sheikh Shuraim and then Sudais. Yet he has notes about tajweed of some of the imams as well.
I love sheikh shuraim the most and then sudais. I am not putting down the new imams but I think Abdulwali al arkani could be added as a subsitute for sheikh maher.
But I admire the most - sheikh shuraim (especially fajr) and Sheikh Budair.
What car does Sheikh Juhany drive??

haha!! thtzz wonderful shaikh talib leading salahs two times! well on my umrah shiakh talib wasnt there for asr salahs, they were led by shaikh juhany and shaikh mahir some two weeks back!!

Brother Saif, how did you shook hand to Imams? Didn't his guards stop from reaching near to him?
it was really tough after the friday fajr i prayed behind juhany in the first row of masjid al haram right in front of the black stone i was sooo lucky alhamdullilah. then i followed sheikh Juhany after wer he went out and i kept on trying to say salam but the guards wouldnt let me
then the assitant of all the haram imams noticed i wanted to say salam so he then told me come tomorrow(friday prayer) and i will let u say salam to sheikh sudais we went and said salam
then after asr that day i went and said salam to sheikh ghamdi also him and sudais are very nice people sheikh juhany is the kinda of guy that doesnt like to say salam to random people then in madinah i went to fajr 2 hrs and 45mins early to get the first row i actually got on tv also alhamdullilah in madinah there are very strict on say salam to the imams the guards watch u very closely so sheikh budair walked in(my fav) and i said salam to him
then after the salah he lead which was amazing i waited for the guard to pass by when they were walking out and i stuck my hand out to sheikh budair and he shook my hand it was awesome i also sheikh hudhafy walk out undercover with no abaya or guards in order protect himself from the crowd of people
