the last picture is sheikh talib with the stick.the stick you see is very important because in prophet muhammads time(pbuh)whenever he use to do khutbah every friday he uses a stick. jazakallah.
Your eyes are NOT deceiving you at all ! The use of a staff (A'SAA) is one of the great sunnah of our beloved messenger Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. That's why the Imam is using it, they emulate each and every action of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. They are the LIVING examples. SubhanAllah !

I wanted to ask, at the time of the prophet (saw), when a imam or the prophet (saw) would give a kuthba or lead a prayer how would the people right at the back hear the recitation or kuthba as they didnt have microphones etc...

Its true now we need microphones but back in the day I mean in the Prophet Salla Lahu Alihi WA sallam time and in the Rightly guided caliphs times and even in the time of the next two generations there used to be lots of peoole in khutbah or to seek knowledge from imaams and they would deliver speechs and give lectures and people will benefit from them, It is most probably a miracle from Allah, Just imagine how many people were present at Hijjah-al Widaah, ( The Prophets SAW Last Hajj) , and they all were hearing and when the Prophet Asked the questions that he asked they all answered the same answer and at the same time.
Also it was reported that Imaam Ahmed Ibn Hnabal would teach 100,000 students!!! And Imagine how mny peopole would be present to seek knowledge from Imaam Bukhari!!!
Also all other Imaans did not have microphones but some how Allah made their voices reach to the people present way at the back.

thats sheikh talib! During Kuthba he holds a stick, I think the prophet used to hold a stick during his Kuthba's

All Haram imamas hold stick while delivering Khotba.Only Shaikh Al Taleb and Shaikh Huthayfi use it for walk too after Khotba.
