To Brother Starrhx3 Allaah says in His Holy Book: ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ (That is the Grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He is pleased with. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.) Surah Al Hadeed, verse # 21 Why are you asking? Are you interested?
You need to be Saudi in order to be considered for the position. You also need to have memorized the Quraan, read to several top shuyookh, know the rules of tajweed, and earned or in the processing of earning a degree in one of the depts of Islamic studies: Quraan, Hadith, Aqeedah, or Sharia.
ما شاء الله i am glad that the shuyukh are getting periods of leading multiple Salawaat for extended times (like leading at least 3 Salawaat in a day), and i guess that the imams are too الحمد لله
about qualifying as an imam, what about sheikh kalbani? he may be living in arab land but he is black (الله تعالى forbid that i be meaning that in a racist manner!), and i saw an interview of him talking how he felt about that. does that mean that imams are being appointed more on qualifications than race?
but sheikh kalbani and the current shuyukh have been Blessed by الله سبحانه و تعالى with beautiful voices ما شاء الله
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
[interpretation of The Meaning of Surah Al Hujuraat Aayah 13]
like i mentioned, sheikh kalbani led portions of صلاة التراويح once. and back in the day there was رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم so obviously there was no need to even think about questioning why he, being an arab, led the Salawaat
It's not racist. If Saudi's weren't good reciters of the Quran and then the rule was that Imaams could only be Saudi, that would be racist. But the imaams are qualified for the position, so it doesn't matter. Also, Sheikh Ayoob and Sheikh Kalbani are Saudi, they have citizenship. The requirement is being Saudi, not being Arab, and you can be Saudi when you have citizenship. Allah alone knows best, and all that is wrong is from myself and may He forgive me.

don't you have to be a true blooded arab. was there ever an imam of the kaaba who was not a true blooded arab? sounds racist.
