The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided. (18)
Have you made the providing of water for the pilgrim and the maintenance of al-Masjid al-Haram equal to [the deeds of] one who believes in Allah and the Last Day and strives in the cause of Allah? They are not equal in the sight of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. (19)
The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success]. (20)
Their Lord gives them good tidings of mercy from Him and approval and of gardens for them wherein is enduring pleasure. (21)
[They will be] abiding therein forever. Indeed, Allah has with Him a great reward. (22)
O you who have believed, do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies if they have preferred disbelief over belief. And whoever does so among you - then it is those who are the wrongdoers. (23)
Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people." (24)
Allah has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing. (25)
Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers and sent down soldiers angels whom you did not see and punished those who disbelieved. And that is the recompense of the disbelievers. (26)
Then Allah will accept repentance after that for whom He wills; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (27)
O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram after this, their [final] year. And if you fear privation, Allah will enrich you from His bounty if He wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Wise. (28)
Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled. (29)
The Jews say, "(Uzair) Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah (Isa)(A.S) is the son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? (30)
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him. (31)
They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it. (32)
It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it. (33)

You are eager to see the photos of the imaams but are you eager to make them alive on the day of Qiyaamah?
are you ready to take the punishment from Allah for looking at photos when Nabi sallahu alayhi wa sallam taught us that he who takes or looks at a photo will have to blow live into it on the day of Qiyama, maybe you are not aware of the terrible punishment for sinners

It seems there's a difference of opinion on digital photography, but that's something I don't want to get into. I respect that your opinion is a stronger opinion, but again, let's avoid a debate.

salam.dear hr admin just to clarify annon 8 tht it is 4 han made mean any sclupture or portrait but not by a camera coz it works on the same principal as our eyes.and it z accepted by most of the arab scholers but little by indo-pak scholars. it z not for any counter talk jst giving a clarification.

Is that in regards to digital still photography or videoing? But either way, you could be correct. Jazakillah khair.

o people don't make the wrong right it is so clear that photography is haraam don't look for excuses to make it right Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam did not enter Bibi Ayesha rathiyallahu anha's house because she had a picture of a horse Nabi sallahu alayhi wa sallam only entered her house when she removed that picture.
Do you think Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam would pose for a photo or wish to look at one when Allah says if one takes part in photography looking at it or taking it he will have to make it alive on the day of Qiyaamah the same applies to videos
Do you think Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam would agree that videos of humans are right?please think dear brothers and i don't want you to go to jahanam and burn there for ever please understand and save yourselves i cannot do more than this except beg the umah of Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam to follow the deen and not make the wrongs right please o people do not obey shaytaan he wants to lead us astray don't follow him and get punished for ever fear Allah.

digital still photography is allowed asi t is not in a solid form abut electric magnetic waves it just only the reflection...so it is permissible..
what is haram is those pics that r drawn by artist ot on a paper..
so in my opinion feel free to post them ..
above all is my opinon copied from ulemas opinoins

if Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam said a drawn picture is Haram how would a real clear digital photo be hallal, whether its electric magnetic waves or drawn with the hand its still a picture of a a living being on the day of Qiyaamah you cannot tell Allah it was digital so i don't have to make it live its ridiculous

If Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam was alive and here would he pose for a photo?
or even look at one?
remember he did not enter Bibi Ayesha rathiyallahu anha's house because she had a picture of a horse

hr whats your opinion?

- HR Staff - said...

I've already said I'd like to avoid a debate on this issue. We, the HR team, are not scholars, so our opinions are meaningless. We are aware of both sides of issue and we know that there are ulama of different opinions on this matter. As far as the little that I know, Sheikh Shuraim dislikes photography regardless of the fact that it is digital, but there are other imaams who slightly okay with it. Allah alone knows best, and may He guide us all.

Good reply HR. To anon. There are various opinions with regards to this topic. According to what you are saying, visiting this website is also haraam as it has still videos, the internet is haraam, the tv is haraam, use of a mobile phone may be haraam if it has a screen saver, visiting airports/travelling is haraam as pasports have photos and so on. Remember islam is NOT a religion of hardships. The scholars use qiyaas, ra'y and other methods by which to apply islamic principles to 'modern day' problems/issues. This is the beauty of islam. As HR stated, for example shaykh shuraym may dislike photography of this form, but he has taken photos on more than one occassion. My point is that saying something outright is 'haraam' is a very bold statement. The scholars tend to be very weary of this. Once a famous scholar was asked a question at a gathering. He pondered, then pondered some more. Then he said. My mind is confused regarding this point so I cannot advise you at the moment. He wrote the question, and took it away with him and said he would revert with a suitable response. SobhanAllah. I dont know your credentials, but just think, how much knowkledge do all the imams of haramain have between themselves?(just an example)... They all have had their digital photos taken, videos made at taraweeh etc. My point isnt that we should blindly follow anyone.. no.. my point is that it is MORE THAN LIKELY that they have more knowledge than you and I.. and if they havent branded it as 'haraam'.. we should consider that there is a different of opinion amongst the ulamaa regarding this point. Is quoting from one hadith, without proper clarification of the actual arabic words, tafseer, source, narration chain, enough to say this is haraam?!! .. as you are doing ! As Salam wa alaykom.

To be fair, I don't think the anonymous poster was hinting that the internet, cell phones, air travel, etc is haraam. Photography in general isn't disliked, photography of people or anything animate is disliked, just like the internet in general is ok, but wasting time or going to evil sites is not ok.

And Sheikh Shuraim, although he has taken pictures, when he has been able to advise a brother against taking his picture he did do so. His picture is taken because he doesn't really have a choice, not because he's accepting of it.
