Sheikh Jannah (Ghamdi) does it again! Masha'Allah. This is the other of the two of his classic tones which I love. May Allah preserve him and reward him. Ameen.

Salam. How tired do you get in Ramadan just whenj fasting, change of sleep pattern, and going for qiyam prayers?....Remember leading the taraweeh and witr isnt easy (for any imam) - esp after a long and hot day of fasting, lack of sleep, and the imams are humans beings afer all. This must be remembered. Alhamdulilah, Besides this, many shoyookh (not just in this masjed but most masaajid) also lead the normal 5 prayers and carry out other duties in Ramadan besides the taraweeh. Thats one reason why many imams lead the taraweeh fast.. and also they are aware of old or sick people or kids in the rows and they dont want want the people to get tired and cause them hardships. This is why its sunnah to keep the witr prayer short. In saudi, some scholars (on previous occassions) have spoken to the imams of the haramaim about not making the witr dua too long(this is quite a well known discussion here). This year sheikh sudays confimed that the imams will inshallah keep the dua short. (if you look a few years back, sheikh sudais used to make duas 15m mins or longer on ramadan nights, whereas this year it is more like 5 mins or average). Everything has a reason- as well as not reciting too slowly when leading a congregation of large people for a long prayer (20 units etc) Allah knows best.
