Sheikh 'Abdul Majeed Zaakir, a teacher to Sheikhs Jaabir (Rahimahullah), Humaid, and Sudais, passed away two days ago.
"I think he was almost in 80's and till his last strength he was teaching Quran. When I visited him, I could see flocks of Saudis just coming to learn from him from quite distant places in Riyadh. They would be stunned at his expertise in tajweed and fine details. Its quite popular in Riyadh, that anyone who has learned tajweed from him, could be highly recommended in big masjids for being an imam. He had a huge janaza- MashaAllah till whereever you could see. He was one of the pioneers that came to Saudi Arabia around 35 years back and started the thafeez schools that we see in most of the masjids of Saudi Arabia. May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannah-tul- Firdaus for his service to Quran in KSA. Ameen"

a big loss for muslims. May allah grant him jannatul firdaus. Ameen. Everyone should pray for the sheikh. It is famous that the teacher is recognised by his students. If sh.Sudais,sh.Jabir and sh.Humaid are such how must be the sheikh

Lately, I just came to know from a cassette shop in Riyadh, that there is an interview officially done by the jamiat-khairiyya. The seller told me that the cassette has details about his personal life history and then has recitation from him - he reading once and a group of saudi qurra's reading after listening to learn from him. I will try to find more details about this hidden gem.
