Umrah Story

Alhamdullilah Allah has given me a chance to make a second Umrah. I took off from Jordan at 6:00 and arrived Jeddah at 8:00, it was a quick plane ride. So after one hour of driving we arrived Makkah and I could just see the ma'thnas when we were close to Masjid Al Haram and it was just soo beautiful. So we arrived there alhamdullilah peacefully, then we put our belongings in the hotel and went for our umrah. Alhamdullilah after an hour and a half we finished our Umrah. We then shaved our heads and went back to the haram. We had left for Fajr Salah two and a half hours early. We wanted to get the first row really badly. So we went, after five minutes people started standing on the line for first row. We went there and started to hold hands(so the line doesnt break up and it stays solif, people were also still doing tawaf). I was next to a man from Algeria, and we held hands in order to keep our place. After and hour and half of standing the gurads cleared everybody out of the way and we were directly in front of the black stone. Sheikh Juhany lead friday Fajr, he read Surah Muzzamil. It was heart trembling and just beautiful. So after that we followed him out after the Janazah Salah, and the guards were very strict surrounding him. They kept telling us not to get close. After he walked into the kings palace. Thats where they park their cars. I saw Sheikh Juhany drive out with a Toyota Prada. The assistant of each imam had noticed we(my borthers and I) really wanted to say salam. So he told us to come to Dhur prayer(friday Salah) and he would let us say salam to Sheikh Sudais or Sheikh Shuraim. The next day Sheikh Sudais gave the khutbah and I hurried out to meet him after the salah. The assistant of the Imams let us say salam and had opened up a gap between the guards for us. Sheikh Sudais is a really nice guy he said salam to every person that stuck their hand out. His hand smelled like Musk. It was a beautiful and peaceful smell. I was really excited I met Sheikh Sudais, it was really cool praying behind him also. So now I was comfortable on how to say salams to the Imam. So later that day I prayed Asr behind Sheikh Ghamdi led, I then followed him out and got to say salams also, he is a very kind man. Alhamdullilah later that day Allah had given me the chance to kiss the black stone my second time. It was a lot of pushing. I was lucky to be at the side of the Kaaba so I could hold on to the Kiswa. I Almost broke my knee and elbow the people dont care about you there. But, before Asr salah the guards make a line for kissing the black stone. Its really long at least 150 people waiting. Anythings better than fighting though.

Then we were on our way to Madinah. I prayed first row in Madinah Fajr Salah behind Sheikh Budair. I got on TV. Since Sheikh Budair is my all time favorite I had to say salam to him. So when i was there he was leading only Fajr. He came in through the doors and a Guard walked in front of him. I thought to myself I'll wait till after salah because the Iqamah is being made he might not say salam. So after Salah(which was amazing), He started walking out a guard came in front of him. I waited for the guard to pass then I stuck my hand out to meet Sheikh Budair. If I recall I was the only one who said salam to him. In Madinah they are very strict on seeing the Imam. As soon as the Imam walks out they close the are around him with poles so no one comes near. So the best way to say salam is to be in the first row between the Imams door and where he leads salah. Sheikh Hudhaify walked out with no Abaya or saudis call them Mashalih. He went to go make wudu'u so to avoid the crowd he didnt wear the mashlah. I thought in my head when I saw him, that guuy looks a lot like Sheikh Hudhaify and i was going to go say salam but i didnt want it to be a random man and look like an idoit. I also said salam to one of the mua'ddhins in Masjid Al Nabawi.

May Allah accept your Umrah. Beautiful story Maashaa Allah. Alhamdulillah, I got to meet Shaykh Sudays in Oakland, California. He came here for a visit in the 90's, back then he was allowed to come to the U.S. When you said that Shaykh Suday's hand smelt like musk, I recalled the same exact smell when I shook his hand. It was such a beautiful smell, I was smelling my hand the whole night, haha. Maashaa Allah, Shaykh Sudays has a huge and beautiful smile on ALL THE TIME. I had a talk with him, and was doing khidmah for him the whole time he was here. All the Imaams truly have an amazing character, may Allah preserve them all, ameen.

this was the old palace exit where imams use to come in and out, not the one in front of gate 5. every time sheikh talib lead salah, i would shake hand with him while i was there( 3 weeks). he even told the guards to allow me whenever i come. so the day before i was flying out, he said make sure you see me tomorrow with your father. so me and my father went, and sheikh talib went through the gate of the palace and told the army officer to allow myself and my dad. then he took us in the car park and gave my add a Quran. was truely awesome, like a dream.

I tried to shake Sheikh Ghamdi's hand in Makkah, as he had just led Maghrib Salah but the security guards were surrounding him (I could barely see him!) and one was like "La la la la la la la la la!" ("No no no no no no no no no!") and pushed me aside. Unfortunately he had even put his hand out, but the guard got in the way. That same day I tried to meet Sheikh Mahir after Isha prayer. I asked a security guard at the gate where they come out and he said he's inside praying Witr. I waited a long time but it seems he went directly home instead of to that palace and therefore didn't come out of that exit.

i went on Umrah this ramadhan. i met sheikh mahir in a lift. his mother was staying in the same hotel as us as she comes to stay in makkah every ramadhan. sheikh mahir would be there every night after leading taraweeh doing the khidmah of his mother. subhanallah what a humble man he is. the day after my brother walked with him from the hotel to the palace where the imams enter from.

MashAllah, you are indeed blessed to be close to the Imams and shake their hands. I had done my firt Hajj this year and enjoyed the experience of listening to the beautiful voices of the Imams. Being a lady, there are restrictions to even getting close to the Imam however, your description through the writing have helped the imagination. I hope to listen to the prayer readings insyallah in my next visit. However, I find www.haramain.com a good way to stay close to Makkah and Madinah.
