Now, now why so personal questions?? is it soon going to go onto 'where does the shaykh live?' or 'how many children he has?' or many other useless questions?
So obvious it is a personal question! The shaykh is an IMAM, imagine he knows people around the world are discussing what does he do for he's income?? if you asked when did he start leading salah in the haram, or anything to do with him being an imam is understanable!
Chill out. It's a known fact what many of the imaams do outside the Haram, such as Sheikh Sudais, Shuraim, Ghazzawi, Ghamdi, and Khayyat all are professors at Umm al Qura. So asking what he does is not a problem. Talking about how much he earns, that would be a personal and foolish question, but what he does isn't a problem.

hes an imam and khatheeb at the masjid and must also be a teacher of various islamic sciences!
