Would someone kindly translate what the Shakyh says at the start of namaaz? especially the bit "Aqeemus-suhoofuqum walatak-talif, fa-taktalifu quloobookum." (dont think he said it before this namaz,but he normally does) JazkahAllah.
It is a sunnah of the prophet (saws) and aqeemoo sufoofakum means straighten your rows, wa laa takhtalifoo means generally, do not differ/argue and the last bit means unite your hearts. There are different versions of it eg shaikh al Talib also adds "utimmusaffal awwal al awwal" ie complete the first row (saff) first, sheikh Muaiqly adds taqaaraboo meaning get close to one another, sheikh Budair adds wording to the effect of make sure yoiur shoulders are touching. saddul khalal means close the gaps. General effect of all the words is to say, straighten your rows, close the gaps, stand close together, be united and do not differ. allah knows best.

Some other words are "wa'tadiloo", meaning "and be moderate", and an alternative to "aqeemoo sufoofakum" is "sawwu safoofakum" meaning the same thing ie straighten your rows. I've also heard Shekh Ale Talib say "wa taraasoo" which might mean "be firm" like an anchor, but I'm not 100% sure on that meaning. If anyone can correct me on that I'd be grateful.

That means "straighten your rows for indeed the straightening (tasweyatu) of the rows (saffi) is to establish the prayer", i.e. the purpose of it is so that the prayer can be established correctly. (Allah knows best). The second version, as you said, is the same, but seems to end "min tamaamis salaah". That would mean "...is from the completion of the prayer", but that doesn't seem to make sense. If anyone can help me out on that I'd be grateful. OK. Makkah Maghrib 29th Jan Shaikh Muaiqly says it really clearly. It is "min tamaamis salaah" as I heard Shaikh Hudhaifi say it. Min, apart from meaning "from", can also mean "for", in which case it would mean, "indeed, the straightening of the rows is for the completeness of the prayer" ie the purpose of the straightening of the rows is so that the prayer may be complete, or you could say that the straightening of the rows is one of the things necessary for the completeness of the prayer. Allah knows best.
