Salams Please can some tell me the correct islamic date in saudi arabia today, some say it is the 8th Muharram, some declare it being the 9th Muharram Please can some confirm
On 15th january the arabnews website says: The historic day of Ashura or 10th of Muharram this year falls on Friday (Jan. 18), according to Sheikh Saleh Al-Laheedan, chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council. He said the Hijri month of Muharram began on Wednesday (Jan. 9). So today would be 9th muharram in Saudi Arabia.
salam brothers the date in saudi today thursday is 8th muharam. Ashura 10th Muharam will be on saturday not friday as it was announced before.
Initialy they anounced that the new year would start wednesday 9th january but there has been an error in moonsighting. So it was relayed by saudi press agency that new year would start on Thursday 10th january.
The 11th month of islamic calander zul qada should have been 30 but they did 29 so should the 12th month.
First time ever they have done a 31 day which is contrary to islamic teaching.
Okay...where is the proof for the statement from the SPA? Because now I'm really confused after seeing that Sheikh Laheedan is stating it's already the 10th in Saudi Arabia.

i am in no mind of critisizing anyone but if you look at the mainstream arab (saudi) papers it also states the date today being 8th, friday being 9th and saturday 10th.

today is actually the 9th and tomorrow will be the 10th in sha Allah according to what i know
